Chelsea have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign highly-rated teenage defender Jorrel Hato, Afrosport reports.
The deal is reportedly in excess of €40 million plus add-ons, with the Dutch club including a sizable sell-on clause.
The 19-year-old, who can play as a centre-back and left-back, is awaiting approval from Ajax supervisory board before travelling to London for a medical.
Hato will sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge until 2032 and will become Chelsea’s seventh summer signing, joining Dario Essugo, Estevao Willian, Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens.
The Netherlands international, who has three years on his current contract, was excluded from Ajax’s squad for the Como Cup final on Sunday due to speculations surrounding his future.
A graduate of Ajax’s reputable academy, he made his senior team debut in January 2023, becoming the third youngest player to debut for the club in the Eredivisie.
He has four goals and eight assists in 111 appearances for the club, including playing 31 league games on the road to their second-place finish last season.
