Erling Haaland continued his red-hot form with a brace in Sunday’s derby as Manchester City brushed aside rivals Manchester United 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, Afrosport reports.
The Norwegian struck twice in the second half to help City snap a two-game losing streak and pile further pressure on United boss Ruben Amorim, who is still searching for back-to-back league wins since taking charge last November.

Fresh from scoring five goals for Norway during the international break, Haaland almost broke the deadlock inside four minutes but dragged his effort narrowly wide of Altay Bayındır’s post. United then settled and carved out an opening of their own, with Benjamin Sesko forcing Gianluigi Donnarumma into an early save.
City drew first blood in the 18th minute through Phil Foden. The England midfielder rose to meet a Jeremy Doku cross, heading past Bayındır for his seventh goal in Manchester derbies. Doku remained a constant menace down the left, later setting up Tijjani Reijnders, whose attempt was well saved by the United goalkeeper.
United pushed forward at the start of the second half, but it was Pep Guardiola’s side who struck again. Haaland finally got his reward in the 53rd minute, with a brilliant dink over Bayındır after a neat passing move. He was denied a second shortly after when the post kept out his close-range effort, while Bernardo Silva fired the rebound wide.
Donnarumma produced a stunning stop at the other end to tip away Bryan Mbeumo’s volley before City killed the contest. A defensive lapse allowed Silva to feed Haaland, who drilled in his second in the 68th minute to seal the points.
City came inches away from making it four but Reijnders’ dink over Bayindir flew just wide, while Mbeumo missed another golden chance for United after Amad’s fizzled a cross into the Cameroonian.
The result marked a second victory of the season and a first at the Etihad for Guardiola’s men, who moved into eighth in the table. They will now shift their attention to the Champions League for a home clash against Napoli on Thursday, with Kevin De Bruyne in line for a reunion.
For United, defeat leaves them on just four points from four games — their worst league start since 1992-93 under Sir Alex Ferguson. They slipped to 14th in the standings and next host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
