Two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff has split with coach Matthew Daly ahead of the US Open, Afrosport reports.
The 21-year-old American will continue to work with her long-term coach Jean-Christophe Faurel, alongside biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan, who previously worked with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, notably improving her serve and forehand.
Gauff was spotted training with Faurel and MacMillan at the Billie Jean King Tennis Centre in New York on Wednesday as she steps up preparations for the season’s final major.
Her serve has been a major concern in recent months, highlighted by the 42 double faults she produced in just three matches at the Canadian Open earlier this month. In total, she has committed a tour-leading 320 double faults this season.
Despite the setback, Gauff enjoyed significant success during Daly and Faurel’s coaching partnership, lifting the WTA 1000 China Open, the WTA Finals, and this year’s French Open.
However, her form has dipped since triumphing at Roland Garros, winning just four singles matches, including a shock first-round defeat at Wimbledon in July.
The 2023 US Open champion is set to feature in an exhibition at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday evening before the main draw begins on Sunday.
