Galatasaray handed boost as Osimhen returns ahead of Konyaspor clash

Osimhen refutes physical assault claims from Turkish Journalist, threatens legal action

Victor Osimhen has returned to full training with Galatasaray after recovering from the ankle injury that kept him sidelined for two weeks, Afrosport reports.

The 26-year-old sustained the setback while on international duty with Nigeria earlier this month, forcing him to miss the Turkish champions’ recent fixtures against Eyupspor in the league and Eintracht Frankfurt in Europe.

His absence was deeply felt, with Galatasaray suffering an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Frankfurt in the Champions League last Thursday.

Osimhen was pictured training alongside his teammates at the club’s facilities on Sunday, raising hopes of an imminent return to competitive action. His comeback could come as early as Monday, when Galatasaray take on Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigeria international has scored twice in three league games this season, and his presence offers Galatasaray added firepower in their push to defend the title.

The Istanbul giants are aiming to preserve their flawless start to the domestic campaign, having won each of their opening five matches. A sixth straight victory would further strengthen their position at the top of the table and extend the momentum they hope to carry into Europea, with a big home clash against Liverpool set for 30 September.

Osimhen’s return is also a boost for Nigeria ahead of next month’s international fixtures, with the striker expected to play a crucial role for the Super Eagles against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
