Fluminense head coach Renato Gaucho hopes that the team’s performance at the 2025 FIFA World Cup will change perception about Brazilian clubs, Afrosport reports.
The Rio de Janeiro outfit were one of the standout teams in the tournament, getting results against the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Al-Hilal before losing to Chelsea in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
While Renato Guacho acknowledged, Chelsea deserved to win, he did not stop short of praising the impact of Brazilian teams during the tournament, who have gotten results against the likes of the Blues, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Porto and Inter Miami.
“Fluminense’s campaign was wonderful, I think we all felt that. We overcame some major opponents,” the 62-year-old said.
“Chelsea deserved the win, but I am very proud of everything we did. We go out with our heads held high.
“I hope that not only the rest of the world but Brazil, as well, can look at Brazilian coaches in a different way and appreciate them a little more.
“I have nothing against coaches from other places in the world, but people talk a lot about them, but pay little attention to Brazilian coaches… This Club World Cup allowed for Brazilian coaches to be seen in a better light, and I hope that continues to be the case.”
