Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has described the rumoured interest of Aston Martin in Max Verstappen as just “noise”, Afrosport reports.
According to Daily Mail, Aston Martin are preparing to table a jaw-dropping deal worth £1 billion to sign Verstappen from Red Bull.
Though the four-time world champion is contracted at Red Bull until the end of 2028, it is understood that there is a clause that allows him to get out of the deal, giving room for other teams to approach him.
Horner, in an interview with Goodwood, stated that Verstappen has an open relationship with Red Bull and any talks about his future will be discussed behind closed doors rather than in public.
“Max has a very open relationship with the team, and, of course, you discuss things openly, as in any form of partnership,” he said.
“He’s made very clear what his position is towards the team. And, of course, you’re always going to discuss things behind closed doors. That’s normal operation.
“Every team is going to show interest in him because he is the exceptional talent that we all know, so you can only imagine he would be at the top of every team’s list.
“There was a lot of noise. And usually, when the noise is so public, it tends to be more… The serious stuff is usually done behind the scenes, not through the media.”

Verstappen has insisted that he is happy at Red Bull but has not hidden his desire to drive a competitive car after the RB20 struggled to compete with McLaren and Ferrari in the latter stages of the 2024 season.
