Lando Norris held off a strong challenge from his McLaren team-mate and Formula 1 title rival Oscar Piastri to claim an impressive win at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
Norris started the race in third place but dropped to fifth on the opening lap which prompted McLaren to switch him to a one-stop pit strategy which gave him track position over pole sitter Charles Leclerc and Piastri.
Piastri passed Leclerc after their second stops and began to close in on Norris in the final stages of the race. The Australian however failed to pass his team-mate which saw his lead reduced to nine points going into the three-week summer break.
Meanwhile, George Russell completed the podium after a late pass on Leclerc, whose race pace evaded and received a five-second time penalty for clashing into Russell in his defence for third place.
The Ferrari driver settled for fourth place, finishing ahead of Fernando Alonso, who took a season-best result of fifth for Aston Martin likewise Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto in sixth.
The other Aston Martin of Lance Stroll was seventh while Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls was eighth, finishing ahead of reigning champion and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who is now 97 points behind Piastri in the championship standings.
Mercedes rookie Kim Antonelli claimed the final point in 10th to end a three-race streak without scoring points.

The paddock will head to Zandvoort after the summer break for the Dutch Grand Prix on August 31.
