F1: McLaren’s Norris, Piastri thrilled to clinch constructors’ championship so early

Glasner gives no excuse for the end of Crystal Palace’s unbeaten run

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were filled with excitement after McLaren clinched the 2025 Formula 1 constructors’ championship and 10th in their history at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

The British team came into Marina Bay with a massive 337-point ead over Mercedes in standings and needed just 13 points to clinch back-to-back titles which was achieved with Norris and Piastri finishing third and fourth respectively behind race winner George Russell and Max Verstappen.

With six races still to go, McLaren are the earliest team to win the constructors’ title, matching Red Racing’s feat in 2023. Tbe Woking outfit also won back-to-back titles for the first time since they won three in a row between 1988 and 1991.

“A tough one, but I guess a good result, from a P3 but also for us as a team,” Norris said per the F1 website. “[We] got the Constructors’ – that was our goal into the weekend.

“Of course I want to win, but to come away with another Constructors’, that’s our goal as a team so it makes up for it, makes up for everything else, and [I’m] just very proud, happy to celebrate with everyone and happy that all their work is worth it.”

Meanwhile, Piastri stated “This is one of the two objectives we set out to achieve every year, so to achieve it with this many races to go is very, very impressive. I’m just very happy for the whole team.”

Norris and Piastri will continue to slug it out for the drivers’ championship, with the latter leading the former by 22 points heading into the next race at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
