Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa has hit out at ex-Blues coach Antonio Conte, revealing the Italian was not loved much by the club during his time at Stamford Bridge, Afrosport reports.

Costa and Conte had a strained relationship after the successful 2016-17 campaign, revealing that he had received a message from Italian tactician stating that it was time for him to leave West London.

In a preview of an upcoming episode of the Obi One Podcast, the Brazilian-born Spaniard said: “Conte is a person who doesn’t trust others. He thinks he knows everything.

“You don’t enjoy training with him, he’s always angry, always with a long face.

The players wanted to come back, but nobody liked him and that’s why he didn’t last long. The past is the past.”

Conte won the Premier League and FA Cup in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge while Costa left to rejoin Atletico Madrid for a second spell before turning out for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brazilian clubs Atletico Mineiro and Botafogo.

The 37-year-old has been without a club since leaving Gremio in 2024.

Conte since leaving Chelsea has manageed Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli, winning league titles with the former and latter.
