Done Deal: Nigeria’s Ajibade joins PSG on two-year deal until 2027

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, Afrosport reports.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal until 2027, after departing Atletico Madrid following the expiration of her contract.

“I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe,” Ajibade said. “This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere.

Ajibade joined Atletico from Norwegian side Avaldnes in January 2021 and scored 40 goals in 136 appearances for the Liga F club. She bagged eight goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances last season in Spain.

She made her international debut for Nigeria in 2018 and has earned over 35 caps, scoring 20 goals. She was part of the squad that won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title that same year.

Ajibade captained the Super Falcons to WAFCON triumph in Morocco in July, helping Nigeria claim a record 11th continental crown.

She has also represented Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
