Arsenal on Saturday announced the signing of Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting in a deal worth €73.5 million, Afrosport reports.
The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners paying a fixed fee of €63.5m and a further €10m in add-ons—this takes their summer spending to £210m.
Gyokeres will take the number 14 shirt at Arsenal and become the club’s sixth summer signing after Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera.
“I always want to score,” he told the club media. “To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can’t wait. It will be an amazing feeling.
“I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I’ve improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team.”
Primed and ready.

Arsenal have been in the hunt for a striker all summer, initially holding talks with RB Leipzig for Slovenia international Benjamin Sesko. A deal for the towering forward failed to materialise and the Gunners shifted their attention to Gyokeres, who joins after two years at Sporting.
The Swede scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese club, including 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions last campaign. He departs the Estadio Jose Alvalade after winning three titles, including a league and Portuguese Cup double this past season.
“It’s a big honour to play for your country, and then to score goals for them is amazing,” said Gyokeres. “When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well.
“Now to come here to a club on Arsenal’s level, I think it’s going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I’m really excited to get going.”
Manager Mikel Arteta added: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyokeres to the club. The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves.
“Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat.”
Gyokeres made his international debut for Sweden in 2019 and has since bagged 15 goals in 26 appearances for his country. He will join up with his new teammates on their pre-season tour in Asia.
Arsenal will play Newcastle United on Sunday at Singapore National Stadium before facing Tottenham on Thursday, 31 August, in Hong Kong. They will end their pre-season with a friendly against Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium on 6 August.
