Done Deal: Chelsea complete signing of Jamie Gittens from Dortmund

Chelsea have announced the signing of English forward Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £52 million deal, Afrosport reports.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a seven-year deal, which will see him remain at Stamford Bridge until 2032.

Gittens, a Manchester City Academy player, joined Dortmund in 2020. He scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in 107 matches for the German club.

“It feels great,” Gittens told the club website. “It’s a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea.

“I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It’s an amazing feeling.”

He enjoyed his best individual season at Dortmund in 2024-25, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 49 games across all competitions.

Gittens has earned caps across all youth levels for England and is currently a member of their Under-21 squad, where he has one goal in 11 appearances.

He becomes Chelsea’s latest signing this summer following the arrivals of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Estevao Willian and Mamadou Sarr.

Gittens is unable to play for Chelsea at the Club World Cup, having already featured for Dortmund. The Blues are through to the semi-final and will take on Fluminense for a place in the final on Tuesday, 8 July in New Jersey.
