The football world has been left stunned by the shocking demise of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who sadly passed away on Thursday morning, Afrosport reports.
Jota, who recently married his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, last month, was confirmed dead along with his brother, Andre Silva, following a car accident in Spain.
The 28-year-old scored six goals and provided four assists in 26 games for Liverpool last season on their way to winning a second Premier League title. He also won the Nations League with Portugal in June, coming on as a substitute in the final against Spain.
Following the announcement of his passing, players, coaches, clubs and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Jota and send condolences to his wife and family.
