Liverpool have announced plans to build a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield in tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, following their tragic deaths in a car accident on 3 July in Zamora, Spain, Afrosport reports.
The Reds will retire the number 20 shirt across all levels of the club — including the women’s and academy teams. The number was worn by Jota throughout his time at Anfield and will now be preserved in his honour.

Since the devastating news, tributes have poured in from across the football world, with thousands of fans laying flowers, scarves, and banners outside the stadium. The club revealed that the forthcoming sculpture will be created using recycled materials from these heartfelt tributes.
Liverpool also confirmed that players will wear a “Forever 20” emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets throughout the upcoming season. A fan mosaic and a minute’s silence are planned ahead of the Premier League opener against Bournemouth at Anfield on 15 August.

Supporters will also be given the opportunity to pay tribute during the pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on 4 August. A “Diogo J 20” patch will feature on players’ shirts for their summer tour in Asia, with floral tributes laid prior to kick-off in those fixtures as well.
Additionally, all proceeds from the sale of shirts bearing “Diogo J 20” will go directly to the LFC Foundation, which has pledged to launch a grassroots football programme in Jota’s name. Meanwhile, the FA is in discussions with Liverpool to organise a tribute at the Community Shield at Wembley on 10 August.
