Super Falcons star Oshoala completes Al-Hilal transfer from Bay FC

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has completed her transfer to Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Hilal from NWSL side, Bay FC, Afrosport reports.

The 30-year-old joined Bay FC last year in its debut season as an expansion team, having spent five successful years at Barcelona Femeni. Her time with the Catalan club produced five consecutive Liga F titles and the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023.

She made a total of 38 appearances for Bay FC last year, scoring eight goals as the San Francisco outfit finished seventh in the NWSL standings. They made it to the playoffs but lost to Washington Spirit in the quarter-finals.

The Nigeria international has played 12 times this year, mostly as a substitute with no goals scored and Bay FC currently sit 12th in the standings with four wins from 18 games.

Oshoala arrived Saudi Arabia on Monday and completed her medical ahead of transfer deadline. She has penned a two-year contract and becomes the third Super Falcons player to play in the Saudi Women’s Premier League after Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega who ply their trade with Al-Ittihad.

The former FC Robo player is a record six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year and a four-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champion with the Super Falcons, including the 2024 edition in Morocco this year.
