Thibaut Courtois is confident Real Madrid is on the right path despite their heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
Los Blancos were powerless to stop the reigning European champions as they lost 4-0, ending hopes of manager Xabi Alonso landing his first title with the Spanish capital giants.
Courtois acknowledged it was difficult to accept the result but will take lessons from it to improve ahead of the new season.
“It’s a tough defeat, but a defeat to learn from. We’re on the right path, and sometimes a setback like this is good for you to keep improving, to know that there is a lot of work ahead and that we can get better.
“We have to reach their level; they have won the Champions League, and they’ve been very good in this tournament. We have to work on next season.”
