Chelsea and West Ham United have been fined £325,000 and £300,000 respectively by the Football Association (FA) following the confrontation between players from the two teams at the end of their Premier League game last month, Afrosport reports.
The Blues clawed their way back from two goals at Stamford Bridge to win the London derby 3-2.
It was however marred by a melee at the end of the game that saw nearly 20 players clash with each other after Adama Traore threw Marc Cucurella to the ground before he clashes with Joao Pedro, leading to other players arriving to separate the fight.
Jean-Clair Todibo had earlier received a straight red card after a VAR review for grabbing Pedro’s throat.
“It was alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute,” the FA said in a statement.
“It was also alleged that West Ham United FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way at this time.”
Chelsea have since won one and drawn two of their following league games to sit in fifth place on the table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United while West Ham sit in 18th place, two points shy of safety.
