Niger got their first points on board at the 2024 African Nations Championship after holding South Africa to a goalless draw in their Group C encounter in Kampala on Friday, Afrosport reports.
The Menas had already suffered defeats to Guinea and co-hosts Uganda in their opening two games and were underdogs against the Amabinneplaas.
They however put in a spirited performance as kept the South Africans at bay and had the best opportunity in the 74th minutes when the ball rolled into the net but was disallowed by VAR.
South Africa also had two penalty appeals in the first half but they were overturned by VAR.
