The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold the Preliminary Draw for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the very first time, Afrosport reports.
The draw has been scheduled for Saturday, 9 August, at 1:00 PM local time (11:00 AM Nigerian Time).
CAF’s decision to host the draw in East Africa reflects the region’s growing interest and viewership in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The draw marks the official kick off of a new season of African club football. The action will begin with the preliminary round on 19 September, followed by the second preliminary round on 17 October.
Teams that advance will move on to the group stage, which begins on 21 November. From there, the top two clubs from the groups will compete in the knockout Phase, starting on 13 March 2026.
Egyptian side Pyramids are the reigning CAF Champions League winners, having claimed their first-ever title by defeating South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 over two legs in the final.
Meanwhile, Moroccan side RS Berkane defeated Tanzania’s Simba 3-1 on aggregate to win the CAF Confederation Cup for the third time.
