Besiktas on Thursday confirmed that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with Nigeria, Afrosport reports.
The 28-year-old featured in both of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month but was forced off during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against South Africa.
Ndidi was carted off in the 70th minute at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein and replaced by Crystal Palace midfielder Christantus Uche.
In a statement, Besiktas revealed that the former Leicester City star underwent scans upon his return to Turkey, which showed a strain and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle (semimembranosus). The club confirmed the Super Eagles midfielder has already started treatment.

The Nigeria international is now expected to spend some time on the sidelines, beginning with Saturday’s home clash against Istanbul Basaksehir.
