Bayern Munich are set to sign Luis Diaz after reaching a £65.5 million agreement with Premier League champions Liverpool for the Colombian winger, Afrosport reports.
The Bavarian giants had initially tabled a £58.5 million bid for the 28-year-old earlier this month but was rejected by the Reds.
Diaz was absent from Liverpool’s pre-season game against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday which ended in a 4-2 defeat, with head coach Arne Slot confirming it was due to the speculation on his future.
He has now been given permission by Liverpool to fly back to Europe in order to complete a medical ahead of the move.
“In Lucho’s (Diaz’s) situation, there’s a lot of rumours around him lately, and I cannot go into that,” Slot said after the loss to AC Milan.
“He’s training really well with us, but we have decided for now not to play him yet.
“I’m used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis. I cannot comment much more about that.”
Diaz joined Liverpool from FC Porto for £37 million in January 2022 and has scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists in 148 appearances, winning the Premier League title 10 points clear of Arsenal last season.
Meanwhile, Bayern won a record-extending 34th Bundesliga title last season and have only strengthened with the signing of German defender Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bavarian giants reached the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, losing 2-0 to eventual runners-up Paris Saint-Germain in Atlanta.
