Bayern Munich complete £65.5 million signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool

Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool on a four-year deal for a reported £65.5 million, Afrosport reports.

The Bavarian giants had a bid of £58.6 million rejected earlier this month, but accepted the improved £ 65.5 million bid over the weekend and gave the Colombian permission to travel for his medical.

Diaz departs Liverpool after scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists in 148 outings, winning four titles, including the Premier League last season.

He becomes Bayern’s third major signing of the summer after acquiring Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim and Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

“It means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern – it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my style of playing football and my personality,” Diaz said.

Bayern recently participated in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, losing 2-0 to runners-up Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.

Vincent Kompany’s side will commence preparations for the new season with friendlies against Olympique Lyon, Tottenham Hotspur and Grasshoppers before facing Stuttgart in the German Super Cup on August 16.

Their Bundesliga season will start at home to RB Leipzig six days later.
