Arsenal dealt setback with Odegaard ruled out until after November break

Arsenal will be without captain Martin Odegaard until after next month’s international break as he continues to recover from a knee injury, Afrosport reports.

Odegaard was forced off in the first half of Arsenal’s 2-0 win against West Ham on 4 October and was diagnosed with a medial collateral ligament injury following medical examination.

The Gunners confirmed that the midfielder will miss October’s international window but failed to provide a specific date for his return. However, reports now suggest Odegaard is expected to be unavailable until mid-November, after the last set of international fixtures for the year.

The 26-year-old would miss key matches for Mikel Arteta’s side, including Premier League games against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace and Sunderland. He will also be sidelined for Champions League games against Atletico Madrid and Slavia Prague.

The Gunners will face north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on 23 November, immediately after the international break and it is unclear whether Odegaard will be fit in time for the derby.

The former Real Madrid man has been crippled with injuries this season and became the first player to be substituted in the first half in three consecutive Premier League starts.

Odegaard was also left out of Norway’s squad for the current window, and the Scandinavians cruised to a 5-0 win over Israel on Saturday in their 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Norway are edging closer to picking up the only automatic ticket in Group I — a feat that would see them reach their first major tournament in 25 years.
