Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has expressed his disappointment with his team despite their strong performance in Sunday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool at Anfield, Afrosport reports.
The Red Devils went toe to toe with the Reds which resulted in Lisandro Martinez putting them in front for their first goal at Anfield in eight years while Amad Diallo leveled the game in the 80th minute after Mohamed Salah had put Liverpool 2-1 up from the penalty spot.
Fans and pundits waxed lyrical of the character and attitude of the United players but Amorim was not pleased with the result which could have gone their way had Harry Maguire not missed a sitter in added time.
“I think we should get mad and disappointed more than Newcastle and Nottingham Forest,” the Portuguese told the club website.
“Today, we need to be really disappointed. I have to calm down and say the right things. We’re in a difficult moment but it’s hard to not get really mad. I’m happy for the performance.
“I’m not happy for the result but I’m really mad because of the other games. Sometimes, it’s like that, everybody is angry with my players and I have to do the opposite. Today, everyone will say they did everything right, and I am allowed to be upset.”
