Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is confident in his defence ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group C opener against Tanzania on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The Malian tactician will have to do without William Troost-Ekong, who announced his retirement, while the highly-rated Benjamin Fredrick is currently injured, likewise Nottingham Forest full-back Ola Aina, who is undergoing rehabilitation for a hamstring injury.
Chelle has named eight defenders in his 28-man squad, including three players set to make their AFCON debut: Bruno Onyemaechi, Igoh Ogbu, and Ryan Alebiosu.
The former Mali boss expressed confidence in his team, stating, “I trust my players. We have a strong defence.”
