U20 World Cup: Flying Eagles beat Australia in friendly to end preparations on a high

U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles edge Egypt on penalties to clinch bronze

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles wrapped up their U-20 World Cup preparations in style with a 3–1 victory over Australia in a closed-door friendly, Afrosport reports.

Goals from Tahir Maigana, Achihi Oseer and Charles Agada ensured a confidence-boosting result for coach Aliyu Zubairu, who will be encouraged by the team’s sharpness in attack.

The win followed their earlier 1-1 draw with tournament hosts Chile in Rancagua, where Ahmed Akinyele converted from a Maigana corner before the home side equalised just before the break.

The Flying Eagles now shift their attention to the U20 World Cup, kicking off their campaign against Norway on Monday, 29 September. The clash will kick off at 9:00pm WAT at the Estadio Fiscal in Talca.

Zubairu’s side will be eyeing a positive start in a challenging Group F, which also features Saudi Arabia and Colombia.
