WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup: Olowookere picks Moshood, Chidi & 18 others for Flamingos

U17WWC: Flamingos defeat Dominican Republic to finish group stage with 100% record

Nigeria’s under-17 women’s national team head coach Bankole Olowookere has selected 20 players to the final shortlist for the Flamingos ahead of the commencement of the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup scheduled to begin in Ghana on Thursday, 12 December.

Earlier this month, Olowookere initially called 25 players to the Flamingos camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The tactician, who led the Flamingos to the quarterfinals of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic in October, has shortened the list to 20 with the likes of Shakirat Moshood and Harmony Chidi making the cut.

Other players in the final squad include goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke and Ayomide Ibrahim, midfielder Faridat Abdulwahab, and forwards Peace Effiong and Mary Lucky Nkpa.

The Flamingos are drawn in Group B of the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup competition, which now has five participating teams and is expected to last for two weeks from 12-26 December 2024.

Nigeria will tackle Ivory Coast and Niger Republic, while hosts Ghana are in Group A alongside Benin Republic, following the withdrawal of Burkina Faso.
