World record holder Tobi Amusan retained the Diamond League trophy for the women’s 100m hurdles after winning Sunday’s final in Oregon.
Amusan put behind her the disappointing final performance at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest with a Season Best of 12.33 seconds to lift her third consecutive Diamond League trophy.
The Nigerian athletics star saw off competition from Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and USA’s Kendra Harrison who settled for the second and third spots respectively while World Athletics champion Jamaica’s Danielle Williams
The 26-year-old first won the Diamond League trophy in 2021 with a previous African Record of 12.42 seconds and she bettered the timing last year with an improved Meeting Record of 12.29 seconds.
Thanks to her feat on Sunday, Amusan is now the second woman in history to win back-to-back Diamond League trophy in three straight years after Dawn Nelson-Harper.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 athletics season, she will turn her attention to the Paris 2024 Olympics with the aim of winning a medal for Nigeria.
