2026 WCQ: Super Eagles concern as Sevilla’s Adams picks up thigh injury

Nigeria’s Akor Adams out again with muscle injury

Sevilla forward Akor Adams is a doubt for Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, Afrosport reports.

The Spanish club confirmed that the 25-year-old has suffered an injury to the long adductor muscle in his left thigh, ruling him out of their next La Liga fixture against Girona.

Adams completed the full 90 minutes in Sevilla’s 2-1 defeat to Getafe last weekend but sat out training on Wednesday.

The former Montpellier forward was handed his first international call-up last week after being named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad by head coach Eric Chelle.

His availability for next month’s qualifiers is now in serious doubt, joining Stanley Nwabali on the sidelines after the goalkeeper was stretchered off in Chippa United’s league game on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles host Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday, 6 September, before travelling to face South Africa at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 9 September.
