Algeria extended their lead at the top of Group G of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 3-1 win over Botswana in Tizi Ouzou on Thursday evening, Afrosport reports.

The Desert Foxes came into the game at the Hocine Ait Mohamed Stadium three points clear of Mozambique at the top of the standings.

Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amoura put the Algerians in front in the 33rd minute after being assisted by Borussia Dortmund full-back Ramy Bensebaini before Tebogo Kopelang equalised 10 minutes later.

The game remained level until Amoura turned provider in the 71st minute for Baghdad Bounedjah, who made it a brace deep in added time.


In other games on Thursday evening, goals from Gift Gamedze (own goal), Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Arthur Avom handed Cameroon a 3-0 win over Eswatini in Group D while Mali defeated Comoros by the same scoreline in Group I likewise Tunisia against Liberia in Group H.
