Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made a change to his final 23-man squad as Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha has been called up to replace the injured Nathan Tella for this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Tella was an unused substitute in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday. The 25-year-old forward has now been confirmed injured and will miss Nigeria’s upcoming matches.
Torunarigha, meanwhile, was included in the initial 39-man squad list released by Chelle earlier this month but failed to make the final cut.

The 27-year-old gets his fourth national team call-up and will be looking to make his second Super Eagles appearance, having made his debut in an international friendly against Mozambique in October 2023 under Jose Peseiro.
The Super Eagles will take on the Amavubi of Rwanda on Friday, March 21st, at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, before hosting the Warriors of Zimbabwe five days later in Uyo.
