Indonesia have parted ways with Patrick Kluivert in his role has head coach by mutual consent after their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign came to an end at the weekend, Afrosport reports.
The Garuda lost to Saudi Arabia and Iraq which denied them a chance of progressing into the final playoff round of the Asian qualifiers.
Netherlands legend Kluivert was hired in January this year to oversee Indonesia’s World Cup qualification efforts but with no chance of moving any further, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) opted to end their relationship with the 49-year-old.
“After an open, full and respectful discussion, both parties agreed to end this partnership,” read a PSSI statement.
“The termination of this collaboration was made by mutual agreement, taking into account internal dynamics and the strategic direction of the national team’s future development.
“The PSSI expressed its appreciation for the contributions of all members of the coaching team during their tenure. This step was taken as part of a comprehensive evaluation of the national football coaching and development program.”
