Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu is eagerly looking forward to making his competitive debut for Nigeria, Afrosport reports.
Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, the 25-year-old previously represented Germany at U-20 level before switching his international allegiance to Nigeria earlier this year.
The full-back was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the Unity Cup in London in May, making his unofficial debut in a thrilling 5-4 victory over Jamaica in the final.
Now part of the squad preparing for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda and South Africa, Agu expressed his pride in wearing the green and white jersey.
“It’s a big honour to come here to represent the Super Eagles, to represent my home country,” he said. “It’s just nothing usual, like it’s one of the biggest countries in Africa.”
Agu will be patiently waiting to see if his number would be called for Nigeria’s highly anticipated clash against Rwanda. The Super Eagles will lock horns with the Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
The three-time African champions will then travel to South Africa for another engagement with group leaders Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, 9 September at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
