2026 WCQ: FIFA appoints Chadian referee Allaou Mahamat for Nigeria, Rwanda clash

FIFA has appointed Chadian referee Alhadi Allaou Mahamat to take charge of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, Afrosport reports.

Allaou, who officiated Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo last month, will be assisted by compatriots Bogola Issa (assistant 1) and Moussa Hafiz (assistant 2), with Abdelkerim Ousmane as the fourth official.

Alice Damaris Kimani from Kenya will serve as the referee assessor, while William Makinati Shongwe of Eswatini has been appointed as the match commissioner.

The crucial Group C encounter will take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, on Friday, 10 October, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm local time (5pm Nigeria time).

The Super Eagles sit third in the group and are currently three points behind Benin Republic and South Africa. Eric Chelle’s side are targeting a vital win to boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
