Egypt booked their place in the finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 3-0 win over Djibouti in Group A of the African qualifiers on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
A Mohamed Salah brace and an Ibrahim Adel goal ensured the Pharaohs were at the Mundial for just the fourth time in their history and for the first time since the 2018 edition in Russia.
They are the third African team to book their spot after Morocco and Tunisia while Salah became the all-time highest goalscorer in the history of the African qualifiers with 20 goals, taking him above Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba and Algeria’s Islam Slimani (18 goals) and Cameroon icon Samuel Eto’o (17 goals).

In the other Group A game, second-placed Burkina Faso defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 while Ethiopia defeated Guinea-Bissau by the same scoreline.
Meanwhile, Ghana are on the verge of making to their fifth World Cup outing following a 5-0 thumping of Central African Republic in Group I. Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew and Kamaldeen Sulemana mean the Black Stars need just a draw in their final game at home against Comoros to pull through.
In the other Group I game, Madagascar defeated 10-man Comoros 2-1 while Mali defeated Chad 2-0.
In Group D, table toppers Cape Verde drew 3-3 with Libya in Tripoli while second-placed Cameroon defeated Mauritius 2-0 and Eswatini and Angola played out a 2-2 draw.
