Memphis Depay became the Netherlands’ record holder for most assists after providing two in the 4-0 win over Finland in the Group G of the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The 31-year-old of Ghanaian heritage assisted the opening two goals for Donyell Malen and Virgil van Dijk in the eighth minute and 17th minute respectively, taking his tally to 35 assists, surpassing legendary midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
Depay went on to convert from the penalty spot in the 38th minute to extend his tally as the Netherlands all-time leader scorer to 54 goals.

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, of Togolese heritage, completed the scoring in the 84th minute after he was assisted by Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.
Ronald Koeman’s men are top of Group G after six games with 16 points, three ahead of Poland who defeated Lithuania 2-0 away from home.
In other results, Denmark defeated Greece 3-1 to go joint-top in Group C with Scotland who defeated Belarus 2-1.

In Group H, Romania stunned leaders Austria 1-0 while Cyprus thumped San Marino 4-0. Group L saw leaders Croatia record a comfortable 3-0 win over Gibraltar while Faroe Islands defeated Czech Republic 2-1 to keep their qualification hopes alive.
