Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and head coach Justine Madugu were on Friday unveiled as nominees for the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, Afrosport reports.
Nnadozie is up for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award and is tipped as the favourite to claim the accolade. The 24-year-old has won the last two editions and was recently ranked fourth in the maiden Women’s Yachine Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
The Brighton & Hove Albion shot-stopper starred at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), keeping four clean sheets in six games as Nigeria reclaimed the title.
She will face stiff competition from nine other top African goalkeepers, including Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi, Senegal’s Adji Ndiaye, and Andile Dlamini of South Africa.

Meanwhile, Madugu, who guided Nigeria to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco in July, is shortlisted for the Coach of the Year honour. The 61-year-old masterminded a historic 3–2 comeback victory in the final after the Super Falcons had fallen behind to two first-half goals from the hosts.
Madugu, who recently became the first African — male or female — to be shortlisted for Women’s Coach of the Year at the 2025 Ballon d’Or, is eyeing his first CAF award but will need to fend off compatriot Bankole Olowookere, Morocco’s Jorge Vilda, South Africa’s Desiree Ellis, and Zambia’s Carol Kanyemba.

Two Nigerian teams — the Super Falcons and Flamingos — were also shortlisted for the National Team of the Year award. In addition, Nigeria’s Shakira Moshood was nominated for Young Player of the Year, while Bayelsa Queens will hope to clinch the Club of the Year honour.
