Zambia and Kenya were off to losing starts at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic after respective 1-0 and 2-0 defeats to Brazil and England in Groups D and C on Thursday evening, Afrosport reports.
The Copper Princesses were back at the Mundial after a 10-year absence when they exited the group stage in Costa Rica with only one win against the then-tournament hosts.
They were however unable to make it a second win with Juju’s 19th minute goal giving the Brazilians the victory.
Meanwhile, the Harambee Starlets were making their World Cup debut but did not make much of it as goals in either half from Lola Brown and Lauryn Thompson was all the English ladies needed for the three points.

The Zambians will hope to get all three points when they take on Poland in their next group fixture while the Kenyans will go up against the North Korea.
Earlier in the day, Poland and Japan played out a goalless draw while North Korea thumped Mexico 4-1.
